Initially, Leerdam declined to interact with reporters in Milan entirely, prompting the Dutch Sports Journalists’ Association to lodge an official complaint.
However, she later relented, conceding to a brief interview with state broadcaster NOS.
“I wanted to remain in my own bubble and focus on my preparation for the races. In that regard, I don’t feel the need to share excessively,” she remarked during the interview.
