Rozentals has been suspended from the British Paddles Association. A month ago, the 22-year-old received a phone call from the association saying he was suspended from competing and that he could not contact his support staff or other athletes.

Rozentals has a clear suspicion about the reason for the suspension. He has started an account on the controversial website OnlyFans, which often contains profiles with provocative photos that followers can pay to access.

– I got a phone call saying I’m banned from everything. I’m not allowed to talk about it with my teammates and support staff, says the 22-year-old.

It was the British BBC that first reported the case, above which they state that the British Paddling Association is concerned with allegations surrounding posts on social media, without wanting to specify exactly what it concerns.

He has received over 10,000 likes on OnlyFans, where he has published 39 videos and over 100 photos.

Rozentals says he has earned 100,000 pounds (approx. 1,350,000 kroner) since he created the profile in January.

The income he has received from OnlyFans stands in stark contrast to his earnings as a paddler. British slalom paddlers receive £16,000 (approx. 200,000 kroner) a year for their efforts.

He opens up about how he and his single mother have struggled to make ends meet for many years, and that his mother is a great motivation to continue with OnlyFans.

He says it was especially tough when his mother became very sick with coronavirus during the pandemic.

– The pressure continued regardless. I could compete for medals, but life didn’t get any better. This was not a life worth living. My mother lived in constant pressure and pain, says the paddler.

May be facing a difficult choice

Rozentals is a great slalom paddling talent. In 2023 he took silver in the U23 World Championships. He has a big goal of the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028. And he is willing to take the whole case to court to achieve just that.

– An Olympic medal is the pinnacle of the sport. When I go to bed at night, I still feel like there’s something missing. But the big motivation is that I can show that no matter where you come from, you can achieve anything. That’s my message. I started from nothing and can win Olympic gold, says the 22-year-old.

An independent body is investigating the case while Rozentals is suspended.

The BBC writes that the association’s disciplinary regulations mention “disruptive use of social media” and “indecent, offensive or immoral behavior” as examples of gross misconduct that can lead to removal from the team.

However, Rozentals is not giving up on his dream anytime soon. He is willing to go to great lengths to be able to play the sport again.

– It was serious from the start, but I have received overwhelming messages and support from people around me and fans. We will win this fight, even if it may go to court, he says.
