In disarray after injury: – All the warning bells are ringing
– I’m training to get further and further away from the injury I had in my Achilles, so that’s positive, says Jakob Ingebrigtsen to NRK about the injury he has been struggling with for the last two months.
The sore Achilles means that he will not be seen in Bislett Games this week.
Now the 24-year-old reveals that it could be another two months before he competes.
– There is a fairly big break from mid-July to mid-August, where fortunately we can and must focus on training. Whether there will be competitions before that, I am very unsure. I will have to see what happens in the next two weeks, but for now, at least things are going in the right direction.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s main goal for the season comes in September. The World Athletics Championships will be held in Tokyo, Japan, from September 13 to 21.
Vebjørn Rodal: – A little nervous on his behalf
NRK’s track and field expert knows a thing or two about running. The former 800-meter runner doesn’t like what he hears.
– I’m a little nervous for him. What’s scary is that it’s about an Achilles injury. Achilles and running are a scary combination. When the Achilles hurts, all the alarm bells ring for a runner, and they have to, says Rodal and adds:
– I think he has pulled the emergency brake. Hopefully he has done it in time, so he manages to stop the sore Achilles before it becomes something chronic or long-term.
NRK’s athletics expert: Olympic champion Vebjørn Rodal.
– What does it mean for the World Cup?
– What does it mean for the World Cup?
– He was fantastic this winter. He’s had a few weeks of different training. It doesn’t have to mean much. But I’d like to see him in the Diamond League or chasing records before the World Championships. I wouldn’t be worried about him. He’s the best trained middle and long distance runner in the world. He’s also the most experienced – by a good margin.
– Can he go to the World Cup without testing his Achilles one hundred percent?

– Theoretically it could work.
May lose super duel
Ingebrigtsen is scheduled to compete in the Diamond League events in Eugene on July 5 and London on July 19. It could happen quickly.
– I kind of see how my body is day by day. I’ve actually been doing that for the last two months. It’s still a bit uncertain what’s going to happen, but the most important thing is to get my body back to 100 percent, says Jakob Ingebrigtsen.
There has been particular excitement surrounding the duel between the Norwegian and his British arch-rival Josh Kerr in London. The two have been in a war of words several times, but now the question is whether they will be able to measure their strength on the athletics track in July.

– Is it the same Achilles as last year?
– Is it the same Achilles as last year?
– No. Considering the total load, it’s a bit random where it ends up. When you’re always trying to push and become as good as possible at running, there are some setbacks that are needed to know where the limit is.
It has been an unusual preparation for the outdoor season for the 24-year-old. In April and May, he spent several days in the courtroom during the trial of Gjert Ingebrigtsen.
Gjert Ingebrigtsen is charged with abuse in close relationships, against Jakob Asserson Ingebrigtsen and the athlete’s sister. The defendant denies the charges, and the verdict is expected on Monday next week.

Starting running team
The main reason why Jakob Ingebrigtsen met with the press on Wednesday was the launch of his own running team “Spring Run Cub”, with brothers Henrik and Filip.
They will be joined on the team by former skier Marthe Kristoffersen and long-distance runner Karoline Bjerkeli Grøvdal.
– The most important reason why we are doing this is that we want to share our knowledge and build a global running movement for everyone who loves running, says Jakob Ingebrigtsen in the press release.
At the press conference, the brothers highlighted the “running wave”, with a growing interest in running in society.
– We want it to never end. That’s why it’s important, as we see it, that we do something. We’re taking this opportunity to show what running can be, says Jakob Ingebrigtsen.
