Slaughters himself despite the best of the year: – I felt miserable
– I felt miserable from the start. Rotten and tough. The first round was really rotten, but I grit my teeth.
This is what Narve Gilje Nordås says to NRK.
On Sunday he got another opportunity to impress in what has been a relatively modest start to the season. This time in Stockholm.
He ran in 3:32.78 and ended up a little behind the winner. However, the finish was strong and he climbed a couple of places in the run. This is the best time of the season at the distance for the Norwegian.
Says he lacks self-confidence
Nordås himself is not happy with how the race went. He believes he has a lot to work on. He believes one thing in particular is missing.
– It’s the self-confidence. It’s still missing. To get it, you have to run really fast. There’s a lot of sloppiness in the last 200 meters, and it’s one hundred percent my own fault, he tells NRK.
It wasn’t the most prestigious field in Stockholm, as the 1500 meters doesn’t have Diamond League status.

– Haven’t run fast in a long time
This season, 3:38.03 was Nordås’ best performance. On Sunday, he lowered it by many seconds.
– Why do you lack self-confidence? asks NRK.

– I haven’t run fast in a long time. It’s as simple as that.
It was Swedish Samuel Pihlström who took off with the victory.
Nordås ran to a modest placing in the dream mile during the Bislett Games.
Nordås took the season’s first outdoor victory when he ran to victory in the 1500 meters during an athletics meet in Jessheim just over a week ago.
Iuel hundredths away from the World Cup requirement
The Rogalin resident was far from the only one with a Norwegian passport in action.
Amalie Iuel had a tough time in the 400-meter hurdles. The Norwegian hurdler ran in 54.84, which is 19 hundredths of a second short of the World Championships requirement and four hundredths behind her year’s best.
– I’m quite happy. It was great to run under 55. I discussed a lot with Leif, because it’s very windy in the stadium. It was good to hold back a little so I had a little to go on the run, Iuel tells NRK.
She emphasizes that she is satisfied with her race in Sweden, but she believes she has more to go.
– I think there’s still more to gain. I feel like I still haven’t had the perfect race yet. Now I have to go home and put more into training, says the athletics profile.

Jacob Boutera also ran in Stockholm on Sunday. The Norwegian was able to celebrate his personal best in the 3000 meter steeplechase in Stockholm on Sunday. The record is 8:15.69.
He finished in sixth place, while German Karl Bebenford won with a time of 8:11.81. The race did not have Diamond League status even though it was held during the same event.
