French President Emmanuel Macron was on a two-day visit to Norway this week.

The French President and his wife Brigitte Macron were guests of honor at the Palace on Monday evening, where they had dinner with King Harald, but also the rest of the royal family.

From football boots to high heels

Also invited to the Palace was Norway’s women’s national team captain Ada Hegerberg, who lives and plays in France for Lyon.

She received greetings from both the royal family and the French president, and tells NRK that it was a hectic and exciting day.

    – I jumped out of my football boots and straight into some small, high heels and put on some blister patches to be well prepared. But it was an absolutely fantastic evening, an incredible experience, says the Norway captain to NRK.

    – What were they talking about?

    – It’s not that difficult to have something to talk about with President Macron and our king. Because they are so interested in sports, so there was a lot of sports. Thor Hushovd was there too, so of course there was a lot of cycling. Generally a good atmosphere and a nice evening, she describes.

    – Pretty normal people

Hegerberg says that it was simply a pleasant meeting with both the French president and the Norwegian royal family.

    – It was a family setting with very interesting people and a royal family that is so generous, kind and not least hospitable. So it was a very nice evening, says Hegerberg.

    – Nerve damage?

    – What are your nerves?– Were you nervous?– Were you nervous?– Were you nervous?

    – I almost didn’t have time to get nervous, because we’ve had such a busy calendar outside. It was a very relaxed atmosphere. Believe it or not, but there are quite normal people there too. But there were nice times, she says.

    – I think a career is a strange thing. You play football and get to be part of so many experiences and adventures. It is of course an honour to take part in an evening with the royal family and represent the entire sport and the team here. We of course talked about the European Championship and tried to get them to follow along, which they will do. The experiences football has given me are beyond anything I could ever dream of, she says.

How far will Norway go in Euro 2025?

This poll does not show what the population thinks about the question. The results show what those who have chosen to vote think, and the poll does not have a sample that makes it representative of everyone living in the country.

    – They should follow

It is 41 years since the last time a French president was on an official visit to Norway.

Macron surprised during his visit to the Palace by speaking Norwegian.

    – What binds us is, above all, a certain perception of the world, where all emphasis is placed on responsibility and freedom, said Macron before raising a toast in Norwegian to the Franco-Norwegian friendship.

Hegerberg believes she managed to secure a few extra spectators for Norway’s European Championship matches in July.

The match will be important both because the national team must make the final touches towards the championship, but also because the NFF hopes to set a record for the attendance at a women’s international match at Ullevaal Stadium.

    – It’s time for a new record. It would have been incredibly wonderful to get him tomorrow. It’s in a way a new step for the team here and women’s football in Norway, says Hegerberg.

    – It’s been a good job internally. We have very good ladies working behind the scenes here. We want to create a good relationship with our supporters and get them to the game time after time after time. And we have to work for that, says Hegerberg.

    – Guro is incredibly important to this group. I’m incredibly sorry for her. As a close friend of mine, it’s tough to see that top-level sports are so fucking brutal, says Hegerberg.
