– I have this. I have this, Sarpsborg 08 goalkeeper Mamour Ndiaye announced to his teammates just before the penalty shootout against Rosenborg at Lerkendal Stadium.
It turned out to be beneficial.
First he saved RBK’s first penalty.
– A terribly bad penalty kick by Ole Sæter, says NRK expert Kristoffer Løkberg.
The current Vålerenga striker agreed with that too.
– Useless. It doesn’t get any worse. A goalkeeper who jumps early and a penalty taker who puts the ball in his lap. The recipe for a miss, says Sæter to NRK.
Mamour Ndiaye saved two penalties and scored his own. That sent Rosenborg out of the cup.
Then he saved Dino Islamovic’s attempt.
– I told the team that I only needed three of those scores. I knew I would save two or three. I’m ready for anything. I’m 197 cm tall, he grins to NRK.
When the match was to be decided, substitute Martin Håheim-Elveseter stepped forward for the Sarpings to decide the match, ahead of Øvre Øst.
Upper East
But just before he reached the ball, he received a clear message from Ndiaye to get away.
Because the goalkeeper wanted to take the penalty himself.
He did – and sent Sarpsborg 08 to the semi-finals of the cup.

– It’s important to be down to earth and not be a celebrity or anything. I have to work hard, says the teenager after the triumph.
– He has an X-factor in his game. He shouldn’t have taken that penalty, but he has that confidence. We’re through to the semi-finals, and that’s all that matters, says Sarpsborg coach Christian Michelsen.

History repeated itself
In what was the first cup match in six (!) years in Trondheim’s main hall, there was no shortage of drama.
And history repeated itself. The last time Rosenborg played a cup match at Lerkendal, it ended in a penalty shootout.

Which happened again on Wednesday evening.
Rosenborg captain Ole Selnæs was very unhappy with this.
– It’s a fucking robbery that we’re losing this game. I feel like there’s one team on the field, he says.
Late goals
Sarpsborg led for much of the match, after a particularly lucky goal from the visitors’ Sondre Ørjasæter.
– Football can sometimes be brutally unfair. It’s perfectly struck, a fantastic cross from Ørjaseter that goes straight into the goal, comments NRK expert Kristoffer Løkberg.

For RBK had dominated on their own natural turf, but were heading towards cup exit.
But five minutes into overtime, Dino Islamovic suddenly appeared.
The striker, who was brought in for his second spell in the Rosenborg jersey before the season, still had the chance to score this season.
That was the end of it.
– Brilliant first touch and determined finish. That’s not lucky. It’s determined and hard, Løkberg exclaims when the equalizer is a fact.

Extra rounds were a fact. There Islamovic showed himself again.
This time with a sparkling header at the near post.
– He just kisses the ball in the nearest corner, untouchable for the goalkeeper, says Løkberg.
The joy was short-lived, however. Just four minutes later, Ole Selnæs sent a horrible pass, right into the legs of Sarpsborg veteran Jo Inge Berget.
He thanked them for the opportunity and scored to make it 2–2.
Before it ended with Sarpsborg advancing on penalties.

Rekdals Aalesund knocked out
SK Rollon, Ullensaker/Kisa, Bodø/Glimt and HamKam have all been eliminated by 1st division team Aalesund in this year’s Norwegian championship.
But in Wednesday’s quarterfinal, league leader Viking proved too tough.

They were twice behind against the bottom team in the 1st division Stabæk – and played for a long time with one man less. But in the end they won 1–4 on penalties.
