Broke Ødegaard record: Now Eirik (15) has the housing plan ready
Saken oppsummert
- Eirik Granaas is 15 years old, and this weekend he became the youngest player of all time. He was 15 years and 90 days old when he set the record. Granaas lives a life far from other 15-year-olds, he only goes to school once a week. His teammates laugh at his future plans, but praise his skills and personality. Granaas is compared to Martin Ødegaard after he took the record from him.
– I don’t quite have the words for it, Eirik Granaas fumbled when he broke Martin Ødegaard’s record last Sunday.
Never has a player entered the Eliteserie field at such a young age as Granaas: 15 years and 90 days.
When NRK meets him a few days later, the 15-year-old talks about a hectic time.
– There’s been a lot. Everything from friends and congratulations and everything.
FOOTBALL LIFE: Eirik Granaas says that football means everything to him.
At school one day a week
The Lier boy has signed a professional contract with Fredrikstad and lives a life far from most other 15-year-olds.
He rarely has time to go to the middle school outside Drammen.
– If I’m lucky, it will be once a week. I have two very flexible teachers, Eirik and Finn, who have helped me immensely. They allow me to be in Fredrikstad as much as possible for training, and at the same time get some school with me, he says.
He explains that he is assigned tasks that he can do from Fredrikstad. There he lives right next to the stadium with his father Lars, who works as a top player developer in Fredrikstad.
YOUNG FOOTBALL BROTHERS: The three Granaas brothers are all football players. Eldest brother Sondre (in the middle) plays professionally for Molde, while youngest brother Olav (on the right) plays for Mjøndalen.
Want to use the confirmation money on housing
It’s only been two months since he was confirmed. The young man has already made a plan for what the confirmation money will be used for.
– They go into the savings account, and then I’m going to try to save up, then buy an apartment, and then rent it out. But I have a very good amount of money left, so to speak.

CONFIRMATION: Parents Anette Arvesen Granaas and Lars Granaas saw their son confirm this spring.
Even though he sometimes only goes to school one day a week, he has learned that housing is a safe investment.
– Who do you ask for advice to get help with that?
– Who do you ask for advice to get help with that?
– It will be mom, yes. She is very smart, worked hard in school and has a lot of good advice, explains the 15-year-old.
Laughing at the young man’s grip
Teammate Simen Rafn (33) made his debut in the Eliteserien just weeks after Granaas was born in 2010.
He describes the youngster as a little guy who, from the first meeting, at a training camp in Gran Canaria in January, made a mark on the team both on and off the field.
– He has good skills, and he has a bit of attitude and brains. I think he can be very exciting, says Rafn.
He says that Granaas has gradually become comfortable in the jersey and contributes a lot of humor to the dressing room.
He just laughs when he hears the long-term vision of his young teammate.
– It just confirms what I’m saying, says Rafn and continues:
– He is a fantastic footballer, but also a fantastic person. Every day with Eirik is a gift, says the Fredrikstad player.

Don’t feel the pressure

Granaas is naturally being compared to Martin Ødegaard after he broke the record last weekend. It doesn’t seem to stress him out.
– He is of course an incredible player that you should be careful about comparing yourself to. He is the captain of Arsenal and Norway, which is one of the greatest things you can be in Norway.
