Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta gave an update on Martin Ødegaard’s injury status on Friday.
– He will be out for several weeks. No specific date has been set for when he will return. But he is developing well. It’s very unfortunate what’s happening to him,” Arteta said.
– It could be (absence until after the national team break), but we have to see how he develops, how his knee feels. It is too early to give an answer, he said.
Norway will meet Estonia and Italy respectively on 13 and 16 November in the decisive matches in the World Cup qualification. If Norway beats Estonia and Italy concedes points against Moldova, Norway will be ready for the World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada in 2026.
Ødegaard was not part of Norway’s national team that beat Israel 5-0 in the World Cup qualifiers and drew (1-1) against New Zealand. He nevertheless turned up and was part of the group before and after the Israel match.
