Adrian Saxrud Danielsen has signed a contract for the rest of the season with Vålerenga, and will probably make his debut this week.
The robust back is originally from Storhamar, and won the NM play-offs with the Hamar club at the latest in 2025 and 2024. Now he will therefore play for rival Vålerenga.
– It is absolutely beautiful to come here. I have been very well received here at Jordal, says Danielsen to NRK.
– Why do you choose Vålerenga?
– First and foremost, I have great faith in the project of Morten Ask and Roy Johansen. It’s incredibly cool to play for Norway’s biggest ice hockey club. I would like to help win something somewhere other than Storhamar. It really triggers me, says the 33-year-old to NRK.
After last year’s season, Saxrud Danielsen signed for Bordeaux in France. But there the contract was terminated earlier this month. Danielsen says that he and his family simply did not feel comfortable in the French city, and therefore they moved back home to Norway.
Since then, the 33-year-old has been free on the market and linked to all top clubs in Norway, including old club Storhamar.
But at the weekend, he agreed with Vålerenga about an agreement that initially applies for the rest of the season.
Saxrud Danielsen understands if the move to Vålerenga arouses some resentment in his hometown by Mjøsa.
– Ultimately, I think people understand why you choose Vålerenga. They are a big club, the biggest in Norway. A great organization that stands for a lot of good things.
Våleren coach Roy Johansen is looking forward to Hamarsingen playing for the Royal Blues in Oslo East.
– We have got a solid back for the club. We were very happy that he chose Vålerenga. He will mean a lot this season here. He comes in with a lot of power and is strong, says Johansen to NRK.
