Alexander Sørloth played from the start when Atlético Madrid beat table jumbo Oviedo 2-0, and he decided the match with two goals in the first half.
Sørloth got a rare chance from the start and seized it greedily with help from left-back David Hancko.
In the 16th minute, Hancko was played forward by Alex Baena and hit a perfect cross flat into the goal area. Sørloth had run free from his keeper and only needed to put his foot on the ball to give the home team the lead.
Ten minutes later, Hancko cut in from the left again after an Atlético throw-in. Sørloth went into a duel with David Carmo, who cleared weakly, and the Norwegian knocked the fallen fruit into the goal on the volley.
Sørloth was replaced by Julian Álvarez in the 63rd minute. (NTB)
