Johan-Olav Botn showed that the form was intact when the biathletes had moved from Östersund to Hochfilzen.

The 26-year-old led the World Cup overall and came fourth.

Botn had some problems on the last standing shooting:

    – He had a charging problem, what happened there? exclaimed Ola Lunde in the broadcast on NRK Sport.

    – It’s just a beginner’s mistake of not making a good enough charging grip and then getting a click shot, instead of it being a normal shot. So then I have to take it again, and then spend a little extra time to ensure that it was a hit, Botn told NRK after the race.

Tommaso Giacomel shot flawlessly and finished nine seconds ahead of the Norwegian.

The Italian spent only 45.8 seconds on the stand, while the Norwegian clocked over a minute.

Éric Perrot took second place, while German Phillip Horne was third.

Martin Uldal had a very hard time in the track and was number 51:

    – This was really bad. I’m having a bad day and can’t go. I can’t get anything out of what I have at all. I can’t turn it around either. It just gets worse and worse. So this was really bad, said a disappointed Uldal to NRK.

Other Norwegian positions: Sturla Holm Lægreid (5), Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen (7), Johannes Dale-Skjevdal (16), Isak Frey (18), Martin Uldal (51), Vebjørn Sørum (80).
