Friski athlete William Bostadløkken has returned home to Norway by air ambulance, after the serious injury he suffered during training earlier in December. This is what the Norwegian Ski Association writes in a press release. The 20-year-old suffered several fractures, including in his back, and was operated on in Denver. – The operation was successful, but I was paralyzed from the point of injury (T5 and T6) down, he writes in an Instagram post. Now awaits rehabilitation in Norway and follow-up at Ullevål Hospital. On Instagram, he says that it is uncertain whether he will be able to ski again, but has a dream to do so. – I will do everything in my power to experience the incredible feeling of “jibbing” again, writes Bostadløkken and continues: – It will not be easy. It’s going to be my hardest challenge ever. It is not certain that it is possible, but I refuse to give up. I will always fight. National team doctor Andreas Persson says this in the press release: – We are happy that William is now safely back in Norway. As he himself explains, the back injury is very serious as the spinal cord was also damaged in connection with the fracture. We will now focus on the best possible medical follow-up and rehabilitation to give him the best conditions to regain as much function as possible. He is in good hands and we are taking one step at a time. Bostadløkken is referred to as one of Norway’s most promising freeskiers. The Heming profile is part of the national recruitment team. He was recently selected for the World Cup opening in slopestyle in the Austrian Stubai.
