Gabriel Martinelli was overfired in overtime of the top-of-the-table clash between Arsenal and Liverpool.
At the very end of the match, Arsenal’s Brazilian and Liverpool’s Conor Bradley were fighting for the ball, when the Northern Irishman stepped heavily over and was left writhing in pain on the grass.
Then it completely boiled over for substitute Martinelli.

- First he went right up to Bradley and delivered a few remarks.
- Then he grabbed the ball and threw at the defender.
- He then nudged Bradley with his knee, at the same time as the Liverpool player. was helped by the medical device.
- Finally, Martinelli got a good grip on the suit and pushed Bradley over. He was in so much pain that he had to be carried off the pitch.
– Total head mist by Martinelli. Completely unsporting behavior and it becomes even more visible when Bradley is carried out on a stretcher, says NRK’s football expert Carl-Erik Torp.

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai was also not impressed by the behavior of his opponent.
– I saw that Conor hurt his knee. Obviously he didn’t want to waste time, he was just in so much pain that he didn’t know where he was rolling, Gabriel (Martinelli) also comes and pushes him off the field.
– I understand that he wants to win – so do we – but the health of the players is more important than anything else.
He is supported by a number of other experts.
– Absolutely insanely idiotically done, says Viaplay’s Nils Johan Semb about Martinelli.
– You can’t push him off the field! You can’t do that. It’s that bad. I think an apology is in order, rages Gary Neville at Sky Sport.
– What Martinelli is doing here is shameful. Absolutely shameful. We don’t want to see this. He even tries to kick him out and throws the ball at him, says Peter Schmeichel on Viaplay’s broadcast after the match.
– He has no right to do that. I hope the referees look at it and say they should punish it, because we don’t want to see it, continues the old goalkeeper.

– I know what he thinks – that Bradley is just wasting time. But you have to look at what is happening. When Gabriel Martinelli sees this tonight, I hope he calls Bradley tomorrow and apologizes, because it’s not ok in any way, says Fredrik Ljungberg at Viaplay.
Martinelli was shown a yellow card for his performance by referee Anthony Taylor.
Slot shows understanding
Liverpool’s manager Arne Slot, for his part, takes the Arsenal wing in defence. He believes the action shows a bigger problem in football.
– The problem for him, and elsewhere in football, is that there is so much delay and players pretending to be injured towards the end. Then you can get irritated if you think someone is taking time, he says at the press conference after the match.
Slot continues:
– I am 100 percent sure that if he knew the kind of injury Conor Bradley could have, he would never have done it. In football, delaying time and filming has gone so far that you think it will happen again.

COACHES: Arne Slot was probably the most satisfied with one point in London.

– I have seen it happen to us many times this season, and I understand that Martinelli thinks it is a delay.
Slot’s coaching colleague on the Arsenal bench, Mikel Arteta, says this about the situation:
– He probably doesn’t know Gabi (Martinelli), because that’s not the point. I don’t know what happened to Conor, but hopefully it wasn’t too bad. Obviously there were no bad intentions from Gabi to do something bad to him, he says to Sky Sports.
The extent of Bradley’s injuries is not known.
– Liverpool tonight’s big surprise
Before the match, there was no doubt that league leaders Arsenal were the big favorites against a Liverpool team that has not made it swing recently.
In the opening minutes it also looked like that prediction would be correct, but throughout the 1st half – and especially the 2nd half – the visitors took over more and more on foreign turf.

For long periods after the break, Arsenal were played deep, wasted the ball and were stressed.
– The big surprise of the evening was the way Liverpool turned around before the second half. But a frustrating night for Mikel Arteta. They were far away, says Sky Sports’ Neville.
– I think Arne Slot (Liverpool’s manager) will be delighted with the performance of the players. You have to give him praise for the game plan, says former Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City player Daniel Sturridge on the same channel.
The hosts applied a little pressure towards the end of the game, while Liverpool resisted well. But in extra time, Arsenal won a corner kick. Up stepped centre-back Gabriel, who had a completely clear view of the goal.
But the header slipped just a few centimeters to the side for the goal. Then it ended 0-0.

– It would have been so typical if it had gone in. Then they would have definitely won the league, says Ljungberg about the Gabriel opportunity in overtime.
Arsenal still lead the Premier League but were unable to extend their lead to more than six points at second-placed Manchester City, who also drew in midweek.
– The result is not the end of the world for Arsenal. What they should worry about is that Liverpool dominated the game so much, says Roy Keane at Sky Sports.
