The Swedish cross-country team that will travel to the Olympics is ready.
Calle Halfvarsson (36) and Johan Häggström (33) secured the last two places. This is stated by the Swedish Ski Federation in a press release on Tuesday.
It was uncertain for a long time whether the former Petter Northug rival Halfvarsson would get the chance in the Olympics. But the Swedish veteran surprised in Oberhof in his first World Cup race this season.
– I am obviously super pleased. It was completely at the last minute, he says to SVT.
He finished in sixth place in the 10 kilometer classic in Germany on Sunday as the best Swede, and thus gets the opportunity in the Olympics.
