ABROAD: In a significant reshuffling within the ministry, former Foreign Ministry director Jon Erik Strømø has been appointed as Norway’s new ambassador to Switzerland. Meanwhile, Rolf Einar Fife, who previously held the ambassadorial post in Brussels, will now be representing Norway in the Austrian capital, Vienna.
In a noteworthy appointment, senior adviser Sigvald Tomin Hauge from Haugesund steps into the role of ambassador to Pakistan. Hauge, who holds a cand.polit. degree, has been a fixture in the foreign service since 1989 and notably served as ambassador in Tehran from 2020 to 2024.
Additionally, Ghana’s ambassador, John Mikal Kvistad, will now also serve as the ambassador to Sierra Leone, while Norway’s ambassador to Senegal, Knut Langeland, is set to extend his diplomatic reach as ambassador to Niger.
These appointments were officially confirmed during Friday’s Cabinet meeting, with the new ambassadors set to assume their roles at the discretion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
