Northern Norway will be prominently represented at Internationale Grüne Woche 2026, one of the world’s leading consumer fairs for food, agriculture and tourism, taking place in Berlin from 16–25 January.
Invited by the Norwegian Ministry of Agriculture and Food, a delegation of 29 food and tourism businesses from Northern Norway will come together to present the region as an emerging Arctic culinary and travel destination. The delegation represents the northern counties of Nordland, Troms and Finnmark, as well as Svalbard.
Throughout the ten-day fair, visitors will be invited to explore Northern Norway through taste, stories and travel inspiration. From local produce rooted in Arctic nature to authentic experiences shaped by coastal culture, Sámi traditions and dramatic landscapes.
A meeting point for food, culture and travel
The Northern Norwegian stand will highlight how local food traditions and tourism experiences are closely connected in the Arctic region. Chefs and students from upper secondary schools in Mosjøen, Narvik, Ishavsbyen and Nordkapp will prepare tastings that reflect the diversity of Northern Norwegian cuisine, drawing ingredients from the sea, the mountains, the tundra and the coast.
The kitchen team is led by Håkon Johnsen, Managing Director of Polar Events AS.
– Northern Norway has strong potential to grow as a culinary destination. By bringing food producers and tourism businesses together at Grüne Woche, we show how meals, culture and nature-based experiences form a complete travel story, says Olga Philippenko
Travel Trade Manager, Northern Norway Tourist Board.
Strengthening visibility in the German market
The Northern Norway Tourist Board has a coordinating role in the project and ensures that information from all participating businesses is made available digitally. The main objective is to increase visibility in international markets (particularly Germany), strengthen networks, and lay the foundation for long-term cooperation and growth within food and tourism.
