Clarion Hotel The Hub in Oslo might just be the best located hotel I’ve ever visited!
The Hotel
Landing in Oslo, the capital of Norway – known best stunning fjords, incredible galleries and near black out winters – Clarion Hotel The Hub can be as fast as a 30-minute journey from the time you pick up your bags by train.
The train station is built into the arrivals hall and allows for a seamless transition down a few escalators and onto the platform. A train departs every 10 or so minutes to the center of Oslo and will cost around $45 AUD.
The hotel is around a five-minute walk from Oslo Central Station and is easy to find once you exit the station. A fast check-in process, and before I knew it, I was in my room!
The Clarion leans into a modern, Scandi look with warm lighting and colors helping ease the chill of the zero-degree thermostat reading outside.
Interiors are contemporary, and guests will be sure to enjoy a great sleep thanks to the plush bedding, modern comforts like Nespresso coffee machine and of course black out curtains for those nights under the midnight sun!
Facilities
Beyond stylish accommodation, the hotel has great facilities. The rooftop restaurant, Norda focuses on local and sustainable ingredients, and shows off panoramic views of the city while the morning buffet breakfast provides a hot and continental options, as well as seafood, fruit, juice and coffee.
The hotel bar and lounge provide the perfect spot to unwind and warm up with a cocktail after a day of exploring while the well-equipped fitness centre, indoor pool, sauna and steam room allows plenty of space to focus on wellness.
Around the hotel
One of the hotel’s biggest advantages is how close it is to some of Oslo’s key landmarks.
The stunning Oslo Opera House is a short. Thew a waterfront masterpiece is home to the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet and a variety of other events around the year such as outdoor and rooftop concerts.
Around the corner is MUNCH, a museum dedicated to famous Norwegian artist Edvard Munch that features a number of versions of his most famous work, The Scream.
A short tram ride away from the hotel you’ll find ‘Markveien, Grünerløkka’, an area often described as the best shopping district in the city, especially for those who prefer a vintage jacket and a nice coffee over designer brands you can find elsewhere in the city.
24 hours in Oslo
If you’re clients are visiting Oslo, we can’t recommend Clarion Hotel The Hub enough.
To recommend a perfect first day, we suggest a visit to the amazing harbour/sauna set up just up the road from Munch. A few plunges into the near freezing water followed by a stint in the sauna is one way to shake off any post-flight jitters and a perfect chance to get your bearings.
There’s also a good chance that (like us) your client is going to be awake in the wee hours of the morning when they first arrive in Norway. We spent our first morning watching the sunrise from the roof of the Opera House with no one around. A few hours later in the day there were hundreds of people walking around!
