Norway’s three Olympic combined athletes delivered strongly in the ski jumping on the second day in Seefeld. Einar Lurås Oftebro was the best with 3rd place before the cross-country section.
He jumped 103 meters and starts twelve seconds behind leader Stefan Rettenegger from Austria. Johannes Lamparter entered 2nd place and starts six seconds ahead of Oftebro.
His brother Jens Lurås Oftebro is in 9th place and starts 36 seconds behind. Norway’s third podium candidate Andreas Skoglund is number five ahead of the cross-country section and has 22 seconds up on Rettenegger from the start.
Saturday’s competition is a compact race and means that the difference between the athletes will not be that great in the cross-country later on Saturday. It starts at 3:30 p.m.
World Cup leader Johannes Lamparter got off to the best start in the Seefeld triple, when he secured victory in the final jumping section on Friday, after Jens Lurås Oftebro led after the cross-country section.
Skoglund finished in 3rd place on Friday. He and the Oftebro brothers are the three Norwegian combined runners selected for the Olympics on the men’s side.
Sunday sees the third and final competition in Seefeld. Then there will be jumping first, before finishing with 10 kilometers of cross-country skiing.
