Ken André Olimb immediately excelled in his first match for Vålerenga at the age of 18. The 37-year-old gave the Oslo team the lead in the 5-0 victory over Nidaros.
In April last year, Olimb returned to Vålerenga from the German elite series and was reunited with his older brother Mathis, but the comeback in the elite ice hockey series has been slow.
The VIF player injured himself just before the season and had to undergo an operation, but on Thursday it was finally ready for the comeback in front of the home fans at Jordal.
It didn’t take long before Olimb had scored his first goal for Vålerenga since 2008. After just five minutes and eleven seconds, the 37-year-old put the puck in the goal. The scoring came after assists from Jørgen Karterud and brother Mathis Olimb.
Vålerenga continued to drive over Nidaros and led 3–0 after the 1st period. Blake McLaughlin and Henrik Larsson scored the goals, and in the last two periods Markus Modigs and Nick Caamano each added a goal.
