Henrik Kristoffersen says that he aims to end his career with participation in the Olympics in 2030. Soon he will fight for medals in the Olympics in 2026.
Kristoffersen is currently in Schladming, where he is chasing his 24th World Cup victory overall in his career, as he competes in his final races before the Olympics in Italy in February.
The 31-year-old tells the Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung that the Games in Italy will not be his last Olympics. The matter has been discussed by VG.
– If the equipment is right, I stay physically and mentally fit, and I can compete for the victories, then it will be over after the Olympics in 2030. That decision is 100 percent final. I promised my wife that, says Kristoffersen.
Earlier, he is said to have told his wife that he would give up after this Olympic season, but more temptations lie ahead.
– Then I thought the WC in 2027 would also go well. And then we will have the WC in 2029 on home ground in Norway (in Narvik). And if I compete there, I might as well participate in the 2030 Olympics as well. Then I’m really done, says Kristoffersen.
On Tuesday evening, he will fight for the podium places in the giant slalom race in Schladming. On Wednesday, he will again be a candidate for victory when there is a slalom race in the Austrian city.
