This weekend, the Biathlon World Cup continues in Le Grand-Bornand, France, and the Norwegian Biathlon Union has selected this squad on the men’s side:

Sivert Guttorm Bakken, Johan-Olav Smørdal Botn, Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen, Johannes Dale-Skjevdal, Sturla Holm Lægreid, Martin Uldal and Isak Leknes Frey.

Even though Norway’s quota goes from seven to six men’s athletes, they still choose to send seven men – because that is now the number that is qualified to go to Sunday’s joint start.

“Although Sivert (Bakken) is now healthy and ready for competition again, Isak (Frey) has delivered good enough performances to keep his place in the squad. Both will therefore go on to Le Grand-Bornand next weekend,” the press release states.

Back-plagued Vebjørn Sørum, on the other hand, is looking to deliver a weak sprint in Hochfilzen.

The selection of the women’s squad is the same as last time: Maren Hjelmeset Kirkeeide, Karoline Knotten, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, Marit Øygard, Marthe Kråkstad Johansen and Åsne Skrede.

The latter fell ill in Austria, but will now make his World Cup debut. The races are broadcast on NRK from Thursday to Sunday.
