Peace Prize Winner Maria Corina Machado Reflects on Dangerous Journey to Norway
Maria Corina Machado, the acclaimed winner of the Peace Prize, has revealed the profound fear she experienced during her perilous journey from Venezuela to Norway. In an interview with AFP, she reflected, “There were moments when I felt there was a genuine danger to my life, but amid the fear, I also experienced a deeply spiritual moment. I felt that whatever was meant to happen was in God’s hands.”
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, the delicate planning for her trip to Oslo took nearly two months. Unfortunately, her arrival was marked by delays, as she ultimately arrived over a day late for the prestigious ceremony.
Since last fall, the Venezuelan opposition leader has been living under the shadow of danger, spending much of her time in hiding. Public sightings of her have been rare, with only one confirmed appearance in recent months.
