In the fifth match at the Olympics, the Norwegian men’s national curling team had a tough start against the USA. But then they got together strongly. – A real nail biter, now it’s chess on ice, said commentator Patrick Rowlands towards the end of the last round. It started in the worst possible way. After three innings, the USA led 5–0. In round three, Norway took their first point. A glimmer of hope was lit when it read 5-3 halfway through. In the seventh round comes the best blow of the match, when Magnus Ramsfjell has to knock out four yellow American stones with the last stone. See clip below. – It’s a YouTube clip, for an artificial stone, it comes from expert Svae. In round nine, Norway takes three important points and it was a draw going into the last round. But the USA held off the pressure from Norway and came away victorious 10-8, with two best stones at the end. – This is not bad. We would have liked one more victory. We crush them tactically out there. We are showing that we are actually the best team, I just missed a bit at the start, says skipper Magnus Ramsfjell. Norway has three wins and two losses after the first five matches in Italy. Top four gives advancement. You can follow the next match on NRK TV at 14.05 Monday.
