After Manchester United played 2-2 away to Burnley in the Premier League, the club’s interim manager Darren Fletcher said that he is also expected to lead the team in the next game.
– They have informed me that they want me to lead the team on Sunday, says Fletcher at the press conference after the match, referring to a meeting with the club management at Manchester United.
The club itself has also confirmed this on its website on Thursday night.
In Sunday’s game, the club meets Brighton at home in the third round of the FA Cup.
Wednesday’s meeting with Burnley came in a turbulent week for United, who played their first game since Rùben Amorim was sacked on Monday.
The club is now working on a temporary solution to the manager question, where Ole Gunnar Solskjær is among the relevant names.
In the match against Burnley, the home team took the lead early in the first half when a cross from the left was headed into the goal by Ayden Heaven for an own goal.
After the break, the game turned. Benjamin Sesko equalized after 50 minutes following a precise cross from Bruno Fernandes, before ten minutes later he scored his second of the night to give United the lead.
But Burnley hit back. Substitute Jaidon Anthony leveled the score at 2-2 with a great finish from the farthest cross. United were unable to find another score, and the game ended in a draw.
