This summer, the vibrant festival Rockholm will grace Gressholman, and it comes with exciting news: one of this year’s headliners is the legendary guitarist Uli Jon Roth. Best known for his time with the Scorpions from 1973 to 1978, Roth will perform in Northern Norway for the first time, according to festival organizers.
Roth, a pivotal figure in crafting the distinctive sound of the Scorpions, left a profound impact, contributing to four studio albums and the iconic live recording “Tokyo Tapes” released in 1978.
In its press release, Rockholm emphasizes Roth’s role as a trailblazer in merging classical elements with rock. His exceptional guitar playing has inspired a generation of musicians, including the likes of Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Kirk Hammett of Metallica. Roth has also shared the stage with rock titans such as Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, and Michael Schenker during the renowned G3 tour.
Six days after his performance at Rockholm on July 25, Roth will take to the main stage at Wacken Open Air, the world’s flagship metal festival.
Looking ahead, 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of “Virgin Killer,” one of the Scorpions’ most significant albums. Festival-goers at Rockholm can look forward to an unforgettable evening featuring music that spans Roth’s impressive career, including beloved classics from the Scorpions, his solo work, and a heartfelt tribute to Jimi Hendrix—promising a night of virtuosity, passion, and timeless melodies.
Rockholm will take place from July 24 to July 25, with other artists already confirmed, including Heat, Pil & Bue, and Elements. Rockholm promises to be an extraordinary evening, showcasing one of rock’s greatest guitarists beneath the mesmerizing midnight sun.
