Trontale: King Harald presides over the solemn opening of the 170th Storting. This marks the King’s 61st such occasion, a record few can match.Terje Pedersen / NTB / Pool

In his address, King Harald underscores the importance of sound political governance in these uncertain times.

“A troubled world increasingly influences the Norwegian economy. Trade conflicts disrupt our businesses, while soaring prices weigh heavily on the wallets of our citizens,” the King remarked from the throne, delivering a message on behalf of the government.

The Storting Hall was filled to capacity for the formal opening on Saturday. All 169 representatives donned their finest suits and costumes, with an impressive 84 of them being new faces in the assembly.

In his address, the King reaffirmed the government’s commitment to navigating these turbulent waters with stable and secure governance.
