The footballer Andreas Schjelderup is not appealing the sentence of 14 days’ suspended imprisonment from Copenhagen City Council. This is confirmed by the district court to NRK.
Schjelderup had a 14-day appeal period, which expired at midnight on the night of Thursday.
NRK has repeatedly tried to get in touch with Schjelderup’s lawyer Anders Nemeth, but has so far been unsuccessful.
Schjelderup was sentenced to 14 days in prison, with a probationary period of one year. He must also pay court costs. The case was conducted as a confession case.
The public prosecutor in Denmark can still appeal the case, but according to the district court, this is not common in confession cases. They therefore consider the judgment to be final.
The national team player was convicted of sharing a 27-second video with sexual content of people under the age of 18 on Snapchat when he was 19 and playing in Denmark.
The judge said that Schjelderup received a “yellow card”, and said that, among other things, emphasis was placed on the fact that he had not sought out the video, but had been sent it himself.
– It should be no secret that Andreas has regretted the whole process, as you have heard. It was a bad joke that he forwarded it. He deleted it immediately and has apologized, Nemeth told NRK after the verdict.
Schjelderup himself told about the case, when at the beginning of November he shared a number of Instagram stories in which he told about the charge.
– What I did was illegal. I expect to be convicted and receive a suspended sentence, he wrote at the time.
