Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre of the Labour Party has extended his congratulations to Ine Eriksen Søreide, who has been elected as the new leader of the Conservative Party.
In a statement to NTB, Støre expressed his admiration for Søreide’s extensive political background, noting her experience as both a parliamentary representative and in key roles such as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Defence.
“I congratulate Ine Eriksen Søreide as the new leader of the Conservative Party. I have worked well with her in the past and look forward to engaging with her in future debates,” he remarked.
Støre acknowledged that their political discourse will undoubtedly feature sharp differences but emphasized the necessity of collaboration on significant issues affecting the nation and its interests.
Søreide was unanimously elected as the Conservative Party’s new leader during a gathering on Saturday, where she was accompanied by Henrik Asheim and Ola Svenneby as the 1st and 2nd deputy chairpersons, respectively.
