The Norwegian Football Association acknowledges that the referees made a mistake when Tromsø had an early goal disallowed in the season finale against Kristiansund on Sunday.
Jens Hjertø-Dahl hammered the ball into the corner five minutes into the away game, but the score was not allowed to stand. The linesman waved for offside, and after a check the VAR referees signed off on that decision.
The problem was that the offside line was set on the wrong man, says the NFF on X.
“The offside line is set on the wrong defender, and the goal should have been approved,” the message says.
– It looks like they forgot a person at the back there. It is quite incredible if that is the case, said TIL’s sports manager Lars Petter Kræmer-Andressen to TV 2 during the match.
Tromsø had to win on Sunday to secure bronze in the Eliteserien. Following the canceled score, David Edvardsson, Lars Olden Larsen and Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh ensured that the team led 3-0 at the break.
Rezan Corlu reduced for KBK after the break.
TIL secured the important third place and will play qualification for the Europa League next summer. A point loss against KBK would have given Brann the medal. (NTB)
